Cosumnes Oaks is 8-2 against Elk Grove since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack will host the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cosumnes Oaks will head into Friday's match hoping they have more luck than they did the last time they played Sheldon: Cosumnes Oaks' last matchup with Sheldon could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. Cosumnes Oaks lost 63-42 to Sheldon. The contest was a close 28-25 at the break, but unfortunately for the Wolfpack it sure didn't stay that way.

Despite the loss, Cosumnes Oaks had strong showings from Sophia Mendenhall, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 19 points and six rebounds, and Caitlin Subejano, who posted 16 points and three steals. That was a full 38.1% of Cosumnes Oaks' points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Cosumnes Oaks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Elk Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were dealt a 69-15 loss at the hands of Monterey Trail. While losing is never fun, the Thundering Herd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1016th, while the Mustangs are ranked 123rd).

Elk Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Cosumnes Oaks strolled past Elk Grove in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 37-19. Will Cosumnes Oaks repeat their success, or does Elk Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
