Softball Game Preview: McCrory Jaguars vs. Rivercrest Colts

The McCrory Jaguars are taking a road trip to face off against the Rivercrest Colts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, McCrory came up short against Des Arc and fell 8-3. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Rivercrest fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against East Poinsett County on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 10-9. The defeat continues a trend for the Colts in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost six in a row.

Katelyn Ostendorf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Rivercrest got a massive performance out of Karlee Cullom, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Hannah Higgins was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Rivercrest's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for McCrory, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
