Baseball Recap: Hibbing Comes Up Short

Hibbing had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 11-9 to make it four. They fell 5-2 to the Hermantown Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-8 on May 1st.

Hibbing saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Vesel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

As for Hermantown, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Hermantown's side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Evanson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Evanson a new career-high.

Hibbing does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hermantown, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-5 loss against Chisago Lakes Area on the 2nd.
