Basketball Recap: Northwest Halifax Takes a Loss

Northwest Halifax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 58-38 to the Northampton County Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-52 back in December of 2024.

Northampton County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jiyoun Williams, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 16 points along with six steals and three blocks. The matchup was Williams' third in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Torrey Harris, who went 7-for-12 en route to 16 points.

Northwest Halifax now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Northampton County, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwest Halifax and Weldon will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. As for Northampton County, they will take on North Edgecombe at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
