Basketball Preview: Comer Tigers vs. Central of Coosa County Cougars
The Comer Tigers and the Central of Coosa County Cougars will face off at 5:00 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Comer entered their tilt with the Fighting Tigers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Comer claimed a resounding 48-21 win over the Fighting Tigers at home.
Even though Central of Coosa County has not done well against the Rebels recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went Central of Coosa County's way against the Rebels as the Cougars made off with a 54-29 victory. Central of Coosa County pushed the score to 43-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rebels had little chance of recovering from.
Central of Coosa County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jerquesha Heard, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and eight blocks, and Ka'Zyriah Johnson, who scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals. Heard has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Myrakel Coleman, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Comer is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. As for Central of Coosa County, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
