Preview: Montgomery Central Indians vs. Fairview Yellowjackets
The Montgomery Central Indians will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Fairview Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Montgomery Central will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
Montgomery Central proved they can win big on January 10th (they won by 22) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sycamore and snuck past 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Montgomery Central has posted yet this season.
Montgomery Central's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Christian Fox, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, and Drew Yarbrough, who scored 21 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yarbrough has scored all season.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Fairview, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-46 loss to Columbia Academy on January 11th. While losing is never fun, Fairview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Columbia Academy is ranked 51st).
Montgomery Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Fairview, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Montgomery Central came up short against Fairview in their previous matchup back in January of 2017, falling 64-56. Can Montgomery Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
