Soccer Game Preview: Tempe Prep vs. St. John Paul II Catholic

The Tempe Prep Knights will head out to face off against the St. John Paul II Catholic Lions at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Tempe Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Tempe Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Chandler Prep, taking the game 3-1.

Tempe Prep hit Chandler Prep with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Hazel Hurlbut, Delanie Richardson, and Asha Grau Pavia.

Meanwhile, St. John Paul II Catholic waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 4-3.

St. John Paul II Catholic pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three contests. As for Tempe Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Everything went Tempe Prep's way against St. John Paul II Catholic in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, as Tempe Prep made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tempe Prep since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
