Baseball Recap: Westhill Vikings vs. Stamford Black Knights
Westhill had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Stamford Black Knights by a score of 4-3. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Black Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
As for Stamford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch.
For Stamford's part, Jack Gibson looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Noe Mercedes, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
While Westhill had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
