Softball Recap: Laconia Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hanover

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laconia). They put the hurt on the Hanover Bears with a sharp 27-9 victory on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Sachems, who have now won four matches in a row.

Amaya Dutile made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Dutile was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Payton Doherty was incredible, going 4-for-6 with four stolen bases, nine RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Durfee, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

Laconia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .776. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Laconia now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hanover, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Laconia will face off against Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sachems' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Hanover, they will challenge Pelham at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pythons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.6 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
