Baseball Game Preview: Claymont Mustangs vs. Garaway Pirates

For the second straight game, Claymont will face off against Garaway. The Mustangs will challenge the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Claymont hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Monday, Claymont came up short against Garaway and fell 6-2.

Nate Downing spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Braylon Meuhlen made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan McMorrow, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

The win made it two in a row for Garaway and bumps their season record up to 11-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Claymont, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
