Preview: Brandeis Broncos vs. Madison Mavericks
Brandeis is 8-2 against Madison since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Brandeis Broncos will look to defend their home court against the Madison Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Brandeis' favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Madison has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Brandeis pushed their score all the way to 67 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lee. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (58), Brandeis still had to take the loss.
Brandeis might have lost, but man, Rian Forestier was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 44 points and 20 rebounds. That was a full 65.7% of Brandeis' points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Abigail Burdette was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Madison strolled past SA Roosevelt with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 56-37. The victory was just what Madison needed coming off of a 58-36 defeat in their prior match.
Nadia Bailey continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Yazmin Torrez, who scored 11 points.
Brandeis' loss dropped their record down to 22-9. As for Madison, their victory bumped their record up to 13-18.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Brandeis hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.9 points per game. It's a different story for Madison, though, as they've been averaging only 43.6 points per game. The only thing between Brandeis and another offensive beatdown is Madison. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Brandeis against Madison in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 70-37 victory. Will Brandeis repeat their success, or does Madison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
