Football Game Preview: Avon Park Red Devils vs. Lake Placid Dragons

After each having a week off, the Avon Park Red Devils and the Lake Placid Dragons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Avon Park's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four matches, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Avon Park's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They came out on top against Frostproof by a score of 7-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Avon Park can attribute much of their success to J'Nariah Anderson, who threw for 153 yards on only ten passes, and Kamila Watt, who rushed for 63 yards on only eight carries. Watt was even better on defense, picking up a sack and making four total tackles (2.0 for loss).

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lake Placid and Okeechobee meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again two weeks ago. Lake Placid secured a 6-0 W over Okeechobee.

The victory got Lake Placid back to even at 2-2. As for Avon Park, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-3.

Avon Park strolled past Lake Placid in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 20-6. Does Avon Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Placid turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
