Ponder is 8-2 against Callisburg since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Ponder Lions face off against the Callisburg Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Ponder is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 61 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Paradise on Friday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 37-24 defeat to the Panthers. The game marked the Lions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Callisburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a hard 59-40 fall against Paradise. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 522nd, while the Panthers are ranked 201st).

Ponder's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-10. As for Callisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Everything came up roses for Ponder against Callisburg in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured an 86-32 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ponder since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
