Basketball Recap: Polk County Comes Up Short

If Polk County was feeling good fresh off their 91-69 takedown of Hayesville last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Polk County Wildcats fell to the Murphy Bulldogs 62-58. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-75 last Saturday.

Murphy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abram Twiggs led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bradey Golden, who went 6 of 15 en route to 16 points and six rebounds.

Polk County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Murphy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Polk County Wildcats take on the Copper Basin Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Polk County is facing Copper Basin at the right time seeing as Copper Basin is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Murphy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 90-52 win against Nantahala on the 9th.
