Basketball Recap: North Fort Myers Extends Winning Streak to Ten

North Fort Myers had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.4 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They claimed a resounding 54-19 win over the Immokalee Indians. The Red Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Bianca Iten continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Carolina Jenkins, who posted four points in addition to five assists and four steals.

North Fort Myers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 29 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Immokalee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brianna Muhammad, who put up 11 points. Another player making a difference was Abigail Salazar, who had six points.

North Fort Myers' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points per game. As for Immokalee, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

North Fort Myers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-20 win against Lehigh on the 13th. As for Immokalee, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 77-13 defeat against Aubrey Rogers on the 14th.
