Southwest never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Hurley on Thursday. They blew past the Tigers 15-7. Considering the Trojans' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Kaleigh Tull spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Riley Flippo, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jacee Durossette, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.
Southwest's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Hurley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
