Preview: Wilson Prep Tigers vs. Northwest Halifax Vikings
Two dominant guards in Nakiya Boston and Camaya Adkins are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wilson Prep Tigers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Northwest Halifax Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Wilson Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 575th, while the Vikings are ranked 281st).
On Wednesday, Wilson Prep was the victim of a tough 71-46 loss at the hands of the Jaguars. Wilson Prep has not had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Wilson Prep saw an underclassman step up: Boston scored 14 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Morgan Braswell, who scored six points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Northwest Halifax gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They breezed by Warren County at home to the tune of 66-26. Northwest Halifax pushed the score to 52-18 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had no chance of recovering from.
Wilson Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Northwest Halifax, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which somehow isn't as good as their 13-4 record this season.
Wilson Prep was dealt a bruising 72-34 defeat at the hands of the Vikings in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Adkins, who scored 35 points along with five steals. Now that Wilson Prep knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
