Softball Recap: Stratford Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Stratford can now relate to. They fell just short of the Cesar E. Chavez Lobos by a score of 10-9 on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by just one run.

Sophie Donnel and Marielle Kiersh did some serious damage despite the final result: Donnel went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Kiersh went 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Layla Yslas was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Stratford and nudges their season record down to 18-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Cesar E. Chavez, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Stratford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cesar E. Chavez, they will take on Jordan on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Lobos surely won't give up without a fight.
