Monessen wins going away against Geibel Catholic

Recap: Monessen Greyhounds vs. Geibel Catholic Gators

The Monessen Greyhounds won against the Geibel Catholic Gators last Thursday with 73 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. Monessen put the hurt on Geibel Catholic with a sharp 73-48 victory. The win was familiar territory for Monessen who now have six in a row.

Geibel Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tommy Kolencik, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Kolencik is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gary Tarbuk, who scored 14 points along with six assists.

Even though they lost, Geibel Catholic were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Monessen's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Geibel Catholic, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.

Monessen will be playing at home against Jefferson-Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Jefferson-Morgan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday. As for Geibel Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against West Greene at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Greene has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
