Softball Recap: Hillsdale Takes Down Notre Dame in a Playoff Battle

Hillsdale extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Notre Dame. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 2-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Knights in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

The result came thanks to Lola Jones's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hillsdale's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Shelton, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Hillsdale's victory bumped their record up to 18-9-1. As for Notre Dame, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 20-5-1.

Coming up, Hillsdale will take on San Mateo on Saturday. Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
