Softball Recap: Madison Finds Home Field Redemption Against Summerfield

There's no place like home for Madison, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Summerfield Bulldogs on Wednesday by a score of 7-6 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Olivia Schmitz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Kendall Gilbertson and Mya Solis did most of the damage at the plate: Gilbertson went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Solis went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kalexiana Wrest, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Madison's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Summerfield, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-3.

Madison wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-0 loss against Hanover-Horton on the 9th. As for Summerfield, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-0 defeat against Ida on the 10th.
