Basketball Recap: Brennah Cerny Key Part of a Team Effort in Royals Win

Roncalli won the last time they faced Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Roncalli Royals snuck past the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves with a 51-47 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royals.

Roncalli's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brennah Cerny, who posted ten points and five assists. Cerny has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lydia Stahley, who made all 6 shots she took to post 12 points and five rebounds.

Cerny wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Roncalli was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory lost, don't look at Robyn Pate. Despite the final result, she went 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Miller, who had ten points and five rebounds.

Roncalli's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Roncalli will head out to challenge Franklin Central at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Franklin Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they will host Heritage Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
