Baseball Recap: West Babylon Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for West Babylon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the East Islip Redmen by a score of 9-5 on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Redmen on Monday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Nico Milani looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Steve Gervasi, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Mandelbaum, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

West Babylon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, East Islip fell to 6-1.

West Babylon will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Redmen: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
