Basketball Recap: Monroe Comes Up Short

If Monroe was feeling good fresh off their 73-47 takedown of Central Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monroe Redhawks were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 66-65 to the Parkwood Wolf Pack. The Redhawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolf Pack earlier this season, when they won 58-40.

Despite the loss, Monroe still got an impressive performance from Janiyah Boyd, who almost dropped a double-double with 33 points and nine rebounds. The game was Boyd's 21st in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Summer Jones, who posted 13 points and eight boards.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Parkwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-13 record this season.

Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Parkwood, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-24 defeat against Forest Hills on the 22nd.
