Baseball Recap: De Kalb Victorious

De Kalb posted their closest win since February 27th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Liberty-Eylau Leopards 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Leopards back in March, they had to take a 4-1 defeat.

Cortlen White spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Salinas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

De Kalb has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty-Eylau, with the loss, they broke their 22-game winning streak and moved their record to 24-4.

De Kalb does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty-Eylau, they will square off against Carthage at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
