Preview: Lake Travis Cavaliers vs. Westlake Chaparrals
Lake Travis is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Westlake is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lake Travis Cavaliers will take on the Westlake Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Lake Travis strolled past Akins with points to spare, taking the game 75-58. Given Lake Travis' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Akins is ranked 669th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jayden Thomas, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Adrian Mathis was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists and three steals.
Westlake posted their biggest victory since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 75-53 margin over Akins.
Lake Travis' victory bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Westlake, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Lake Travis was able to grind out a solid win over Westlake when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 68-56. Will Lake Travis repeat their success, or does Westlake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
