Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Caiden Smith and Jordan Anthony Lead Seabreeze to Victory

Seabreeze hadn't done well against Pine Ridge recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Seabreeze Sandcrabs walked away with a 51-44 win over the Pine Ridge Panthers. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sandcrabs.

Seabreeze was led to victory by Jordan Anthony and Caiden Smith. Anthony went 5 for 11 on his way to 15 points, while Smith posted nine points and three steals. Smith continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Adrian Brown was another key player, putting up eight points.

Pine Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jyles Newman, who had 11 points along with eight boards and three steals. That's the most boards Newman has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Tedesco, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Seabreeze has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Pine Ridge, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Seabreeze and Spruce Creek will compete for holiday cheer at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Spruce Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Seabreeze likes a good challenge. As for Pine Ridge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-38 loss against Raines on the 19th.
