Football Recap: Deer Creek Piles Up the Points Against Kemper Academy

Deer Creek got themselves on the board against Kemper Academy on Friday, but Kemper Academy never followed suit. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 44-0 victory over the Rams. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Deer Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hayden_Smith9 Hayden Smith, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown. Hayden Smith really tore up the turf during one magnificent 99-yard run. Another player making a difference was Jack Gentry, who rushed for 71 yards on only five carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Deer Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 403 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Another reason for the win was Deer Creek's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Joseph Terry was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Deer Creek got some further help from Tri Miller: he made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.

Deer Creek has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 22 points this season. As for Kemper Academy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Deer Creek has already played their next match, a 38-18 victory against Tunica Academy on the 5th. As for Kemper Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 54-0 win against Hebron Christian on the 5th.
