Baseball Recap: Walhalla Takes a Loss

Crescent hit Walhalla with a four-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Razorbacks fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3. The Razorbacks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

COLLIN PHILLIPS was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

PHILLIPS wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JUSTIN LUSK, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Walhalla's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-8. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs. As for Crescent, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

While Walhalla had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
