Soccer Game Preview: Benton vs. Marion

Benton is 0-8 against Marion since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Bobcats will face off against Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Benton has given up an average of 4 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Benton is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Vinton-Shellsburg, falling 5-0. That's two games in a row now that Benton have lost by exactly five goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Marion made sure to put some goals up on the board against Williamsburg on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Raiders a 4-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Marion, who have now won three matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

Marion's victory bumped their record up to 4-2-1. As for Benton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Benton might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Marion when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
