Recap: Ridgewood Generals vs. Tuscarawas Valley Trojans

After a string of three wins, the Ridgewood Generals's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their rough 51-31 defeat to Tuscarawas Valley might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Ridgewood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Tuscarawas Valley is ranked 20th).

Tuscarawas Valley can attribute much of their success to Locie Levengood, who scored 19 points along with three steals. Levengood is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Elli Wallick, who scored nine points along with four steals.

Ridgewood's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-1. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.8 points per game. As for Tuscarawas Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgewood will take on Claymont at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Claymont is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Tuscarawas Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Garaway at 7:30 p.m. Garaway's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Tuscarawas Valley's offense will have their work cut out for Tuscarawas Valley.
