Altamont won the last time they faced North Summit and things went their way on Saturday too. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 19-5 margin over the Braves. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kate Lindsay made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hadley Mecham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Hazlie Bagley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Altamont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Summit only posted an OBP of .471.
The victory (which was Altamont's third in a row) raised their record to 18-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for North Summit, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
