Volleyball Recap: Lake Station Edison Comes Up Short

Lake Station Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Wheeler Bearcats. The Fighting Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Bearcats from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

While Lake Station Edison was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Wheeler's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-14, 25-18.

Among those leading the charge was Laylah McNamara, who had nine digs and two aces.

Lake Station Edison's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Wheeler, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Lake Station Edison and Wheeler could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Fighting Eagles (ranked 262nd) will meet Washington Township (ranked 125th) at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Wheeler will take on Glenn at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (128 vs. 30).
