Basketball Recap: Gig Harbor Gets the Win

If Silas wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Gig Harbor, they should've done a better job of containing Willow Bonnici. The Gig Harbor Tides simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Silas Rams 66-25 thanks in part to Bonnici, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Ashlyn Peirce was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.

When it comes to explaining why Silas lost, don't look at Carmayla Jackson. Despite the final result, she posted five points and 13 rebounds. Jackson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Gig Harbor's record is now 10-8. As for Silas, their record now sits at 8-10.

Gig Harbor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 72-54 loss against Bellarmine Prep on the 25th. Silas has also already played their next contest, a 48-44 defeat against Central Kitsap on the 27th.
