Basketball Game Preview: Westerly Bulldogs vs. Barrington Eagles

The Westerly Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Barrington Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Westerly is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Tolman, who was ranked 17th at the time (Westerly was ranked 22nd). Westerly fell to Tolman 74-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (56), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Barrington beat Lincoln 62-50 on Tuesday.

Barrington's win came from a few key players Westerly will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ryan Rigamonti, who posted 22 points. Those 22 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleb Satisfield, who had 18 points.

Barrington's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Westerly, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Westerly came up short against Barrington when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 61-54. Can Westerly avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
