Basketball Game Preview: Gillespie Miners vs. Calhoun Warriors

Gillespie hasn't had much luck against Calhoun recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Gillespie Miners just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Calhoun Warriors at 7:00 p.m.

Gillespie is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 64-33 loss at the hands of Carlinville.

Meanwhile, Calhoun came tearing into Tuesday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wolves 60-39. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Warriors just coasted through the last quarter.

Calhoun's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Gillespie, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.

Gillespie suffered a grim 66-46 defeat to Calhoun in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Gillespie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
