Baseball Game Preview: de Toledo Jaguars vs. Brentwood School Eagles

The De Toledo Jaguars will head out to face off against the Brentwood School Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Friday just wasn't the day for de Toledo's offense. They lost 10-0 to Oak Park on Friday. The Jaguars' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary hit Brentwood School with a five-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 9-8.

Brentwood School got a good showing from Owen Boelke, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Boelke has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hudson Chase was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Brentwood School's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Dean Hoshide was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

De Toledo's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Brentwood School, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-12.
