Baseball Recap: Mesa Verde Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mesa Verde ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Colusa RedHawks 8-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mavericks also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2025.

Casey Purcell looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Nelson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Peyton Bonilla, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

Mesa Verde now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Colusa, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Mesa Verde will have a chance to go back-to-back against the RedHawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
