Softball Recap: Elkhorn Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Elkhorn ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Burlington Demons 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Elks have posted since April 16th.

The team relied heavily on Kendall Kresen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Marlee Wester was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Elkhorn and bumps their season record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Burlington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhorn will welcome Homestead at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday. The Elks are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Burlington, they will host Indian Trail at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
