Basketball Recap: Sturgeon Bulldogs vs. New Bloomfield Wildcats
Sturgeon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Bloomfield Wildcats. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.
It was another big night for Jacob Fuhriman, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points and four steals for New Bloomfield. Fuhriman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Jordan, who posted six points.
Sturgeon now has a losing record at 4-5. As for New Bloomfield, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Sturgeon will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Northeast at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for New Bloomfield, they will welcome North Callaway at 8:30 p.m. on January 10th.
