Woodlands Academy is a perfect 3-0 against Northtown since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Pumas at 4:30 p.m. Woodlands Academy has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Woodlands Academy had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Regina Dominican put an end to it on Tuesday. The Wildcats lost 18-0 to the Panthers. The Wildcats have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Meanwhile, Northtown waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Pumas, who have now won four matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Dayanara Marrero was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Leilani Mejia, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and three runs.
Northtown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .692. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Northtown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodlands Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Woodlands Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .508. However, it's not like Northtown struggles in that department as they've averaged .533. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
