Basketball Game Preview: Grand Valley Mustangs vs. Cornerstone Christian Patriots

The Grand Valley Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Cornerstone Christian Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cornerstone Christian will be up against a hot Grand Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Grand Valley blew past Badger, posting a 55-20 win.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian humbled Andrews Osborne Academy with a 55-24 victory. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Phoenix are ranked 662nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grand Valley pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Cornerstone Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Grand Valley beat Cornerstone Christian 44-36 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grand Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
