SkyView Academy had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 49-point drubbing they dealt Dawson School on Friday. The SkyView Academy Hawks blew past the Dawson School Mustangs 78-29. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 24 points or more this season.

SkyView Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brodie Funk, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 20 points and five boards. Those 20 points gave Funk a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Markus Lloyd, who went 6 of 11 to rack up 18 points and five rebounds.

SkyView Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Dawson School's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trey Larsen, who posted nine points and six boards, and Shelton Johnson, who had 12 points and six rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

SkyView Academy pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.9 points over those games. As for Dawson School, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Hawks face off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. SkyView Academy is facing Gilpin County at the right time seeing as Gilpin County is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Dawson School, they will challenge Dayspring Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
