The Brookline Warriors topped the host Needham Rockets volleyball team by a score of 3-1 in Wednesday's league test.

The Warriors now have a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Norwood for a non-league test on Friday, September 7. Brookline will confront a Mustangs team coming off a 3-2 league loss to Milton (Milton, MA). The Mustangs record now stands at 0-1.

The Rockets (1-1) will now prepare for their test against Wellesley (Wellesley, MA). The Raiders enter the non-league test with a 1-0 record. In their last test, Wellesley gained a win over Dedham (Dedham, MA), 3-0, in a league test.

Brookline came off stronger in the first two games with more consistent play while Needham stayed aggressive but let a lot of errors catch up to them. In game three, Needham was down 11-3 and once again was able to turn it around and come back to finish strong. In game 4 Needham had the lead for majority of the game by a few points. Wehn Needham was ahead 22-19, Brookline was able to come back with a couple good serves on their end and hitting and passing errors caught up to Needham in the end to allow Brookline to finish with the Win. Senior middle hitter Kelly Menchin had 7 service aces. Senior middle hitter Shelby Cohen led the team with 6 kills. Senior setter Becca Stormberg was was running all over the court and was still able to come out with 21 assissts. Senior outside hitters Karolina Serhan and Erica Richmond led the team with 16 digs each.
