Alpena Wildcats (Alpena, MI) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Cheboygan Chiefs (Cheboygan, MI), 62-49 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Alpena upgrades its record to 2-8 on the season. The Wildcats travel to Traverse City West (Traverse City, MI) to encounter the Titans in a Big North bout on Friday, January 23. The Titans go into the bout with a record of 6-3. Traverse City West won 69-44 in their recent non-league bout against Central (Bay City, MI)

Next up, the Chiefs encounter the La Salle Saints (St. Ignace, MI) in a Straits Area bout, on Thursday, January 22. Cheboygan will attempt to upgrade on its 4-4 season record. The Saints go into the bout with a 3-4 record after their 51-45 league loss to Rudyard (Rudyard, MI).
