The Jackson Prep Patriots (Jackson, MS) baseball nipped the host Jackson Academy Raiders (Jackson, MS), 7-6 in Tuesday's non-league challenge.

With the win, Jackson Prep upgrades its record to 3-0 on the season. The Patriots travel to Tishomingo County (Iuka, MS) to battle the Braves in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 2. The Braves come into the challenge with a record of 2-0. Tishomingo County won 10-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Falkner (Falkner, MS)

With the defeat, Jackson Academy falls to 2-1 on the season. The Raiders host Warren Central (Vicksburg, MS) to battle the Vikings in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 1. The Vikings come into the challenge with a record of 2-1. Warren Central won 11-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Pearl (Pearl, MS)

#1 Jackson Academy visited Patriot Field and #4 Jackson Prep in front of another great crowd of around 250 fans, but came up short losing in extra innings to Jackson Prep 7-6.

The Raiders were the first to get on the scoreboard in the 2nd Inning. After a leadoff double by Matt Smith, he was replaced by courtesy runner Duncan Maxwell and he was able to score after a throwing error by Will Puckett and a fielding error by Stephen Schneider. The Patriots wasted no time in responding in the third inning as Grayson Lamb earned a one-out walk and Will Puckett followed that with a 2-run Homerun to give Prep the lead 2-1.

The Raiders scored 4 times in the fifth and led 6-3. Prep clawed their way back with a two-run double by William Mounger in the sixth and an RBI single from Stephen Schnieder in the 7th to send it to extra innings.

In the extra frame the Pats got a walk-off single by Carter Thigpen.
