The Stringer Red Devils (Stringer, MS) basketball nipped the host Piney Woods Tornadoes (Piney Woods, MS), 66-65 in Friday's league test.

The Red Devils (13-8) will now prepare for their test against West Jones (Laurel, MS). The Mustangs go into the non-league test with a 5-8 record. In their last test, West Jones was tipped by Wayne County (Waynesboro, MS), 73-33, in a league test.

The Tornadoes now own a 2-8 record. They play next when they host Mount Olive for a 1A Region 7 test on Tuesday, January 30. Piney Woods will encounter a Pirates squad coming off a 54-46 league loss to Sebastopol (Sebastopol, MS). The Pirates record now stands at 11-7.
