The Galesburg Christian Lions waltzed into their game Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 51-49 win from a begrudging Lionssquad. For they, this counts as revenge for the 56-26 defeat Pathway Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Pathway Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Denver Nelson and Ryker Miller. Nelson scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals, while Miller scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Miller has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played.
Galesburg Christian pushed their record up to 5-3 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Pathway Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galesburg Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Faith Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Faith Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Galesburg Christian in Illinois (Faith Christian is ranked 292nd, while Galesburg Christian is ranked 612th). As for Pathway Christian, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th.
