The East Tigers suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Columbus International by a score of 46-44. East was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Columbus International apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
It was another big night for Leila Carter, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 17 rebounds for Columbus International. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Carter has scored at least a third of Columbus International's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamaya Watkins, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Columbus International, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
East will be playing at home against Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Centennial has seven straight victories, East has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field. As for Columbus International, they will head out on the road to face off against Mifflin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mifflin is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
