Baseball Recap: Simla Has No Trouble Against Elbert

Simla never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past the Elbert Bulldogs 12-0. The Cubs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Ethan Kissam and T.J. Eurich did most of the damage at the plate: Kissam scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Eurich went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Eurich is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Nathaniel Cauthon also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Simla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive contests.

Simla's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Elbert, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Simla didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-4 loss against Peyton on the 12th. As for Elbert, they will be playing at home against Calhan at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Elbert is facing Calhan at the right time seeing as Calhan is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
